With the world in disarray due to political unrest, rising temperatures and global pandemics, our lives are becoming more centred in and around the household as a means to stop the spread of the COVID19 virus. Workplaces are empty and the spare rooms in our homes have become solitary offices. With this sudden, drastic change, interior design has become more important than ever. We can no longer appreciate the sense of touch, hugging our loved ones, choosing fashion and interior products in shops.
 The aim is to produce a series of fabrics that create a sense of tactility, calm and stability in our minds and lifestyles as a counterbalance.
Influenced by Scandinavian design with the beauty being in the art of making. Above is a short video showing the processes setting up the loom to weave.
Experimentation with overshot, M and O structures using six fibres only: Merino, Bamboo, Silk Boucle, Fine Silk, Linen, Silk 50% Mohair 50%. Showing that unsustainable cotton and synthetic practices are unneeded to produce tactile fabrics. The silk, though unsustainable due to unethical practice is a symbolic gesture towards the progressive research undergoing at Bolt Threads and their non-harmful alternatives.
